The finery fair creates a time and space where all the fine things in life can be appreciated. On the 24th of September as South Africans celebrate Heritage day, this is the perfect day out for family, friends and fine people…
Set in the heart of Rosemary Hill, the festivities commence when the gates open at 10:00. Live music will fill the air as the aromatic smells coming from the eateries will compel you to stop for a late breakfast, before you take a stroll through the stands of our handpicked Finery Makers. Our Finery makers are all uniquely talented and will be selling everything from leather goods, to jewelry, delicious delicacies, one of a kind fashion items, to handmade furniture, textiles, ceramics and fine art.
This year The Finery Fair will also host an exhibition by heART in the Garden. HeART in the Garden has been running since 2006 and is a collaboration of artists (called heARTists) that exhibit in the home and garden of fellow heARTist, Johan Alberts. The exhibition, featuring art works and other hand-made crafts have grown from strength the strength, attracting many ‘die heart fans and is the perfect addition to The Finery Fair.
Throughout the day there will be a lineup of amazing up and coming artists followed by the bluegrass folky sounds of Georgetown Band, ending the evening off with the electric blues played by Gerald Clark. Our dream for Fine Music is to eventually become a platform to launch new artists.
As the musicians take a break, the actors will take centre stage in the Finery Theatre with the premier performance of Vergeet van Mandela. We want The Finery Fringe to become the breeding ground for new productions to premiere on their way to the festivals and theaters around the country.
Food trucks and eateries from the best restaurants in Gauteng will find a parking spot @ Rosemary Hill. Walking around with a glass of champagne in your hand will be the norm and if that doesn’t tickle your fancy there will also be wine, craft gin and beer. Foodies will be enamored with the variety of quality, fresh foods that are available. Boutique wine farms will show off the best of their harvests while local microbreweries will brag with their trendy, tasty beers.
The Finery fair holds something for everyone – from art lovers and theatre goers to food lovers and families spending time together enjoying the spring weather.
The Finery fair 2015 promises to be a fine affair….
