FINERY MAKER: Georgetown Band at The Finery Fair 2016
We are extremely excited to announce that Georgetown Band will be performing at The Finery Fair 2016 Sunday 25 September! Georgetown is a multi-instrumental Bluegrass Folk band and an absolute favourite in their hometown Pretoria! Formed in January 2014, the band consists of 4 members Michael de Villiers, Renaldo van Dyk, Rynier Prins and Tiaan Erasmus.
The story goes, while backpacking through Malaysia and Vietnam they ended up busking in a small bar and decided that night to start the band. Georgetown being the name of the bar, then became the name of the band. And they have never looked back. Playing a variety of unusual instruments such as the upright bass, mandolin, clarinet saxophone, a washboard and a 1935 suitcase (what?), they create a unique and creative sound.
Georgetown was the final act at the first Finery Fair and kept the party going way into the night, as fair goers danced and sang along to their blue-billy fol-pop tunes. In an impromptu co-lab they invited the blues king Gerald Clark back on stage, and as you can imagine, they made magic!
Delighted to have them at The Finery Fair once again, they will take to the Finery stage on Sunday 25 September at Kievits Kroon as the closing act of Finery Fair 2016, together with our other Finery musicians Suzzi Swanepoel and Gerald, promising to entertain once again.
